MLK Day
In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's 79th birthday on Monday, January, 21, 2008, the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia partnered with Amnesty International and over 40 social justice activists, supporters and friends in the MLK Parade/March held yesterday in downtown Atlanta.
As a human rights activist, Dr. King opposed the death penalty, and this march provided the perfect opportunity to call for a moratorium in the State of Georgia, and increase awareness of the Troy Anthony Davis case.
Troy's sister, Martina Correia participated in the march and joined other community leaders on stage and spoke at the rally following the march. ACLU of GA Board member, State Senator Vincent Fort 9D-39) stopped by to show his support as well.
I hope each of you had a wonderful King Holiday.
