Orange Ribbons at the OSCARS

Sunday night the Oscars were watched by 32 million viewers (early Nielson Media figure). While the press is calling it a ratings dud (lowest rated Oscars ever), for the ACLU and the Close Guantanamo campaign, it is a ratings coup.

Alex Gibney, Best Documentary Winner for "Taxi to the Dark Side", Julie Christie, Best Actress Nominee for "Away from Her" and Paul Haggis, Director, "In the Valley of Elah", as well as several members of their parties all wore orange ribbons. All of the Lionsgate publicity folks wore the ribbons as well.

Other artists (not at the Oscars) who have expressed support of the campaign are: Susan Sarandon, Gloria Reuben, Henry Rollins, Meshell Ndegocello, Holly Near, and Joan Jett.
