Statewide Action Team
Thank you for your interest and support of the ACLU’s work of defending and preserving the individual rights and freedoms of all Americans guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and laws of the United States.
The ACLU of Georgia has a new department that we are excited about. Led by the Statewide Organizer, the ACLU of Georgia is recruiting members to serve on the Statewide Action Team (SWAT).
Statewide Action Team
The Statewide Acton Team will assist the ACLU of Georgia by:
- Participating in civic dialogue
- Increasing the political power of Georgians, and
- Playing an active role in shaping pubic policy.
This will be done by:
- Encouraging communication with policy makers
- Mobilizing the public around civil liberties and civil rights
The ACLU of Georgia intends to encourage and engage ACLU members and supporters through:
- Activism
- Organizing, and
- Public Education
2007 SWAT Action Agenda
Together we can determine ways to engage Georgian on the following issues:
- Felon Disenfranchisement
- School To Prison Pipeline
- Moratorium of the Death Penalty
One example of this is through the ACLU of Georgia’s By The People Lobby Days.
We hope you will join us in our efforts to build community participation in the preservation of rights and freedoms across Georgia.
If you have any questions or would like to speak with me further, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Benétta M. Standly, Statewide Organizer at: (404) 523-5398 or via email at: info@acluga.org.
