Christopher Bruce, political director, ACLU of Georgia
"The right to vote is sacred, and the election laws that enable the right to vote should be treated as such. Changes to Georgia’s election code should only happen through a deeply deliberate, evidence-based process, with many stakeholders at the table,” said Christopher Bruce, political director of the ACLU of Georgia. “HB461 is unfortunately one of the many rushed and poorly-drafted elections bills that we have seen this session. We support the idea to allow Georgia counties to process absentee ballots earlier, but sloppy legislation does not accord the voters of Georgia the respect they deserve."
