The ACLU LGBT & AIDS Project and the ACLU of Georgia filed an amicus brief, supporting the decision of the Tift County Hospital Authority to discipline an employee for harassing a lesbian co-worker. The plaintiff left religious pamphlets in her co-worker’s locker, sent her harassing emails and confronted her at work, condemning her sexual orientation. The employer found that these actions violated the hospital’s diversity policy and created a hostile work environment. The hospital prevailed at the trial court level and the case is now on appeal in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
