Supporters of the American Civil Liberties Union will gather in Washington to learn, mobilize, and inspire each other for the first nationwide gathering of ACLU members and staff since President Trump’s election.
“John Lewis has put his voice, his vote, and his life on the line in defense of our civil liberties, to keep power in the hands of the people. He is one of the heroes of our democracy,” Andrea Young, Executive Director of the ACLU of Georgia.
The conference, the theme of which is #YouBelongHere, will bring together a wide variety of powerful voices in activism, politics, journalism, and entertainment to reflect on our current political environment and strategize for the challenges ahead. This will be a chance for our activists and advocates to mobilize and energize ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.
Topics addressed will highlight civil liberties priorities such as restoring voting rights for formerly incarcerated individuals, racial justice, #MeToo next steps, the future of artificial intelligence, and the fight for transgender rights.
