ATLANTA – The ACLU of Georgia invites the public to attend the first meeting of Joint Study Commission on Low THC Medical Oil Access, taking a significant step to ensure safe and reliable access for thousands of children and families suffering from serious illnesses.
Created by House Bill 65 during the 2018 legislative session, the Joint Study Commission is comprised of senators, representatives, and citizens and is charged with identifying solutions to offer all qualified patients in Georgia access to their prescribed cannabis oil medication.
“The current law purports to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes but fails to provide a legal means of access to it,” stated Chris Bruce, Policy Counsel of the ACLU of Georgia. “The Georgia General Assembly should immediately pass a comprehensive medical marijuana law. Georgia's families deserve to have more than an empty right without a remedy.”
