“In addition to its potential direct restrictions on an individual’s rights, SB 171 also allows for the crime of obstructing a street or road to be met with a death sentence. The bill would allow individuals unable to pass through a roadway due to an alleged unlawful assembly to harm or even kill the assemblers based on an arbitrary and preemptive fear of attack,” said Christopher Bruce, ACLU of Georgia policy and advocacy director.
