Bio

Jerzy Shedlock (he/him) is a communications strategist at the ACLU of Georgia. He writes, edits, designs, and produces content for our organization, equipping Georgians with the tools needed to take action and defend their civil liberties and rights. Prior to joining the ACLU, Jerzy worked as a journalist for a decade in his home state of Alaska, as well as in the Pacific Northwest, covering criminal legal reform, education, and other general assignment news. His reporting took him inside jails, to the offices of lawmakers, and to rural communities far from the states' urban centers. Upon departing the world of journalism, he was the communications coordinator for the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) in Portland, Oregon, and shared the successes of the city's family of numerous Indigenous tribes who are fighting for recognition of their cultural wealth.
