ATLANTA – On Monday, Cobb County Acting District Attorney John Melvin labeled as "Nazis, segregationists" local prosecutors who oppose prosecuting women and healthcare professionals under the new abortion ban that Governor Kemp recently signed into law.

"The comments of Cobb County Acting District Attorney John Melvin regarding the opponents of the Georgia abortion ban demonstrates how out of step he is with the Georgia of today. Seventy percent (70%) of Georgians support Roe v. Wade and reject government interference with women’s private healthcare decisions," stated Andrea Young, Executive Director of the ACLU of Georgia. "Name calling demeans his office and his grave responsibility as the county’s District Attorney. The ACLU of Georgia will make sure the voters of Cobb County know exactly where their District Attorney stands."
