The ACLU of Georgia is a partner in the upcoming Atlanta Candidates Forum. We invite you to attend this opportunity to hear from candidates for APS School Board At-large and District 8, and Atlanta City Council President and Post 1 At-large and District 2. Networking and reception start at 6 p.m. The forum gives the community a chance to engage directly with the district’s candidates on local issues. Get ready for the polls! We’ll be out in the streets on October 18 with communities in Georgia to condemn President Trump’s escalating abuses of power. Since taking office, the Trump administration has sent masked federal agents to arrest people without due process and deport them to torture prisons thousands of miles away, slashed Medicaid for people with disabilities, and attempted to silence students, professors, lawyers, the press, and their political opponents along the way. We, the people, aren’t going anywhere, and we won’t be silenced. President Trump and his administration are abusing their power and denying us our fundamental rights in the process, but we won’t back down. Let’s be clear: Power belongs to the people, and the people will hold power to account. In partnership with the Indivisible Georgia Coalition  

Train to be a Legal Observer with the ACLU of Georgia.

Join our partner, Indivisible Georgia Coalition, for a marshal training with Tim Franzen of American Friends Service Committee. Marshals serve as volunteers who help host organizations to manage events and ensure the safety of participants. This 90-minute training provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of event marshals and best practices for dealing with real-life scenarios during protests. The training will prepare you with the resources and information you need to serve as a protest marshal in nationwide day of peaceful protests on Saturday, October 18, and beyond. The ACLU of Georgia's partner, Indivisible Georgia Coalition, is hosting a medic training in preparation for the nationwide day of peaceful protests on Saturday, October 18. Experienced medical professionals will conduct the training to ensure protesters are kept safe and healthy during the events. The coalition is requesting all medics — even experienced professionals — receive at least some training before volunteering. The training does not require you to volunteer for the October 18 event.
