OVERVIEW
The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia (ACLU of GA) seeks a development associate to support the growth of the organization’s financial resources, with a strong emphasis on increasing individual gifts and building relationships with institutional donors. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Development Associate is an integral member of a team that will significantly grow and manage the fund development program to increase our impact and influence throughout the state.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Associate helps ensure a high functioning development operation and attainment of fundraising goals, as well as excellent stewardship by coordinating, managing or supporting the following activities:

Donor management and administration

• Make timely gift entry into the donor database, ensuring accuracy and integrity
• Make thank you calls to selected donors immediately following receipt of a gift
• Produce weekly donor reports and periodic updates of progress towards goal
• Conduct analysis of individual donors, campaigns, and giving trends
• Track and collect pledged contributions
• Assist in developing internal planning and tracking systems for all activities
• With finance office, conduct monthly reconciliation of finance and development records
• With finance office, produce the annual reconciliation report for National

Annual donor appeals

• Produce periodic mailings to current donors for gifts of $500 and above
• Coordinate mailing schedule with ACLU national development operation
• Maintain mailing list, logistics and follow up
• Produce timely acknowledgement letters

Cultivation Events

• Support planning and executing a series of donor cultivation and stewardship events
• Manage invitation lists to ensure that all portfolio donors are invited to one or more events each year
• Produce, send and follow up invitations to secure targets for participation
• Assist in supporting the event program, logistics and budget
• Assist in follow up with hosts and attendees

Gift solicitation coordination

• Coordinate donor meetings for executive director and other directors
• Draft specified correspondence and reports and proposals for funding
• Ensures that meaningful contacts (calls, emails, meetings) and other pertinent information are recorded in the donor database
• Help produce periodic reports to key donors
• Help manage portfolios of the executive director and director of philanthropy
• Draft specified proposals to individual and institutional donors

Annual Fundraising Dinner

• Support development of invitation lists and coordinate mailings to secure sponsors, patrons and other attendees
• Conduct follow up to ensure optimal attendance
• Support development of event program activities
• Support design/print of program and support run-0f-show development
• Support logistics and budget oversight with contractors
• Conduct follow up with attendees

Other duties

• Provide occasional training in membership sales to volunteers
• Participate in affiliate’s public events as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Work experience in a nonprofit development office for at least one year
• Solid working knowledge of CRM databases; knowledge of Salesforce a plus
• Strong writing and oral communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Able to work some evenings and weekends as necessary to reach goals

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary is commensurate with similarly situated nonprofit advocacy organizations and will depend upon experience and qualifications.
