Dear ACLU of Georgia Supporter,

As 2025 comes to a close, I would like to thank you for your support. This was a year of challenges for many people, and the fabric of our democracy was thinned beyond expectation. Still, with tenacity and love for our country, we said no. We nurtured the resistance to this authoritarianism, this fascism. Our wins in Georgia and across the U.S. this year were undeniable:

Policy and Advocacy: The policy team helped prevent the state from enacting a bill banning diversity and inclusion programs in Georgia schools, blocked a bill permitting social media companies to use your biometric data without restraint, and prevented the passage of a bill that would make voting harder.

Litigation and Legal Actions: The legal team’s docket consisted of challenges to anti-voter laws and gerrymandered statehouse districts, a challenge to Georgia’s six-week abortion ban, and lawsuits to stop the criminalization of charitable bail funds and repeal the imposition of cash bonds for dozens of new low-level offenses. These are just a few of the active legal actions we pursued to ensure all Georgians have equal rights and freedoms.

Community Mobilization and Public Education: This summer, we launched Protest Ready GA, to meet a rising demand for First Amendment education. We provided direct support to both “No Kings” protests across the state in Atlanta, Brunswick, Savannah, and Augusta. The ability to peacefully voice dissent against our government is an essential part of a healthy democracy, and the ACLU is the leading defender of our First Amendment freedoms.

This critical work is just a fraction of our efforts in 2025. Your support of this work is a comforting reminder that everything is not lost.

The best way to honor an impactful 2025 is to start 2026 with power and intention. Join the ACLU of Georgia, Indivisible Georgia, and other partners at the Gold Dome on the first day of the 2026 legislative session for our Pack the Capitol event. It is an opportunity to come together and demand pro-democracy action from state lawmakers on issues such as speech and privacy, voting, criminal legal reform, and reproductive justice.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Happy holidays!

Keep the faith,

Andrea Young
