ATLANTA – This evening, a federal district court ruled in favor of the ACLU of Georgia and granted a temporary restraining order requiring the Capitol Police and other law enforcement to allow its client to display hand-held signs in the Capitol Building.
“Today is a victory for the First Amendment. Georgians demand that their constitutional freedoms and rights be respected, especially in the Gold Dome,” stated Sean J. Young, Legal Director of the ACLU of Georgia. “This is fundamental to our nation’s democratic process, and the ACLU of Georgia will strongly defend these basic principles.”
