“Our state deserves districts that fairly and adequately represent every Georgian. Gerrymandered maps undermine the core of our democracy, and today, House lawmakers made the right decision by refusing to take up the issue,” said Christopher Bruce, deputy executive director, ACLU of Georgia. “We urge Georgia’s governor to amend the special session proclamation and officially remove redistricting from the scope of the convening. The General Assembly should now direct its attention toward extending the impractical deadline that overhauls Georgia’s election system by July 1.”
