SB 154 removes the exception for K-12 school educators and subjects them to criminal charges for distributing “harmful materials to minors.” As written, SB 154 would still apply the exception to educators at state colleges and universities.
The ACLU of Georgia opposes this bill because school librarians and educators should not face criminal charges for allowing student access to First Amendment protected materials.
