Another voter rights victory! On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, ACLU Staff Attorney Aklima Khondoker testified before the Lowndes County Board of Elections regarding the need to reopen the polling location on the Valdosta State University campus. College students and faculty attended the meeting to express their support. The Lowndes County Board voted unanimously to reopen the location and sent a letter to VSU President Carvahal to inform him of that decision. (See letter below.)

VSU President Carvahal must approve the reopening of the polling location on campus. The students and faculty will be meeting with President Carvahal to express their support. The ACLU of Georgia will continue to provide support to reopen this polling location so that students an exercise their sacred, constitutional right to vote.
