ATLANTA - Today, the U. S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in U.S. v. Skrmetti, allowing Tennessee’s law denying healthcare to transgender youth to stand. Georgia Equality and ACLU of Georgia will convene a Virtual Press Conference to break down the court’s decision, its impact in Georgia and to respond to questions.

BACKGROUND
Samantha and Brian Williams of Nashville, TN and their 15-year-old transgender daughter are challenging a Tennessee law banning gender-affirming hormone therapies for transgender people under 18. Tennessee is home to over 3,000 transgender adolescents and the health care banned by this law is supported by the entire mainstream of the medical community.
