WHY:
The ACLU of Georgia once again proudly joins our friends and family at the 2019 Atlanta Pride Festival. This year we are joined by a courageous individual fighting for equality for all. Coming off an exciting week following the landmark SCOTUS oral arguments, Gerald Bostock will proudly join his friends at ACLU of Georgia and Georgia Equality as they celebrate at the Atlanta Pride Festival.

Bostock, who was fired for being gay, and his attorneys argued before the Supreme Court that discriminating against an employee because of sexual orientation constitutes prohibited employment discrimination “because of...sex” within the meaning of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Now Bostock and millions of Americans hopefully await the high court’s ruling in their favor.

Gerald Bostock will ride in the ACLU of Georgia convertible with Andrea Young, executive director. ACLU of Georgia supporters will march alongside wearing purple PRIDE or Voter Rights t-shirts. He will volunteer at the ACLU of Georgia and Georgia Equality booths, be available for interviews, and speak at a rally on Sunday afternoon on the Coca-Cola stage.

QUOTE:
“We at the ACLU of Georgia celebrate Gerald Bostock’s courage in standing for equality of opportunity for all people which is very important to us,” stated Andrea Young, executive director of the ACLU of Georgia.
