ATLANTA – Tomorrow, ACLU of Georgia executive director, Andrea Young will join State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah) at a press conference announcing legislation to address Georgia’s lynching cold cases. This press conference will be on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. on the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol.

This press conference will also have House Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon); State Senator Tanya Anderson (D-Lithonia), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Urban League of Atlanta, Anti-Defamation League, and Georgia State NAACP.

ACLU of Georgia Executive Director Andrea Young states: “There was nothing natural or inevitable about racial segregation. It was established, maintained, and enforced through terror and violence against formerly enslaved people, their children and grandchildren. These families and communities deserve to know the truth. We can love Georgia, as I do, And love the truth.”
